Duplicate Bridge

Nine teams played Duplicate Bridge on Oct. 30 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were  Gail and Ray Schmidt, first place; John Leisen and Rick Stroup, second place; Theresa Baldus and Harriet Oldenberg, third place; Barb Engebretson and Orrin Roisen, fourth place; and Joyce Crowe and Dave Solomonson, fifth place.

Winners were Dave Ring and Orrin Roisen, first place; John Leisen and Rick Stroup, second place; Gail and Ray Schmidt, third place; and Vandy Newman and Harriet Oldenberg and Edna Knobbe and Cleo Osmondson tied for fourth place.

Duplicate Bridge is played at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and at noon on Wednesdays. Players come from Adams, Austin, Albert Lea, Rose Creek, Northwood and Mason City. All Bridge players are welcome to come and play.

Tops MN Chapter 979

Tops MN Chapter 979 announced its September and October division winners.

September division winners are Shirley Schuster and Lorraine Wallace, Division 3, and Judy Thorson, Division 4.

Third quarter division winners were Aisha Heard, Division 2; Wallace, Division 3; and Thorson, Division 4.  The male winner was Daniel Wirkus, who won the gold dollars reward.

Weekly best losers were Lois Goodnature, week one; Betty Gavle, week two; Goodnature, week three; and Mary Louis Wirkus, week four. Goodnature earned four stars and $4.

Mary Louise and Daniel Wirkus were two new KOPS.

Summer holiday contest winners were Heard, first place, and Daniel Wirkus, second place. Others who lost at least 1 pound included Betty Johnson, Goodnature, Katie Koziolek, Fern Rockwell, Barb Solberg and Thorson.

KOPS was Nancy Jenson.

October division winners were LeAnn Jones, Division 3, and Thorson, Division 4.

Weekly best losers were Rockwell, week one; Barb Soper and Sandi Ouederkirk, week two; Soper, week three; Rose Rolands, week four. Rolands earned four stars and $4.

Fern Rockwell was named a new KOPS.

Weekly incentive winners were Johnson, week one; Pat Sorenson, week three; and Rolands, week four.

Tops — take off pounds sensibly — is a nonprofit weight loss support group. There is no diet plan, but support with others on the journey to health and wellness. Tops MN Chapter 979 meets at 9 a.m. on Thursdays in the Albert Lea Senior Center in Skyline Plaza to weigh in and learn about healthy lifestyles.
