Jose Piedad Lopez, 66, of Wells died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at his home in Wells. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Kurt Farrell will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church Friday. Interment will be at St. Casimir Cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family. Jose Piedad was born April 5, 1952, in Tamazunchale, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the son of Estanislao and Matiana (Alonzo) Lopez. Jose was united in marriage Oct. 30, 1991, to Raquel Ortiz in Albert Lea. He worked at Hormel in Austin for 23 years until retirement. Jose enjoyed fishing and watching soccer games, but he especially loved spending time with his grandkids.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Jose is survived by his wife, Raquel, of Wells; five sons, Manuel Lopez of Wells, Luis (Erendira) Lopez of Texas, Francisco (Maria) Lopez of Albert Lea, Leonel Lopez (Maria De Jesus) of Albert Lea and Jose Angel (Maria Guadalupe) Lopez of Albert Lea; one daughter, Maritza (Gustavo) Hernandez, of Wells; grandchildren Noemi of Texas, Manuel of Austin, Jenny of Texas, Elizabeth, Xitlalli, Francisco, Zahir, Tamara, Maray, Valeria, Sophia, Octavio, Alessia and Julian of Minnesota, and Jesus and Aline of Texas; three sisters and a brother in Mexico; one brother in California; along with many nieces and nephews.
