Your child may have come home and said they went to another teacher during WIN time during the school day.

WIN time stands for what I need. Our teachers collect a variety of data on students to determine their academic needs. Once data is collected and analyzed, teachers determine what type of extra instruction is needed for students who need extra practice or for those who have mastered the skills and need enrichment.

This process provides interventions to all students based on individual needs in reading and math. Each grade level has approximately 40 minutes of time allocated for WIN. Students may go to other teachers during this time with other students who have similar needs. These groups are flexible and are adjusted based on student progress.

Some extra supports may be:

• Letter sounds

• Phonemic awareness

• Guided reading

• Math and reading standard and skill work

Our goal is to meet students where they are, give them support to close their gaps and help them learn to their potential.
