Second Albert Lea person dies from injuries related to crash

An Albert Lea woman who suffered life-threatening injuries in a Jan. 10 crash west of Oakland died Thursday.
Elaine Penny Lieb, 80, died after she was injured in the rollover crash one week prior that killed her brother, William Arthur Studer, 76, the driver of the vehicle she was a passenger in.
Studer was driving a 2002 blue Honda CR-V west on Interstate 90 when he reportedly suffered an unknown medical condition, drove off the interstate and into the right ditch, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The vehicle continued through a farm field, making a loop before vaulting over Freeborn County Road 46, rolling multiple times and ejecting Lieb.
Lieb was later flown to Mayo Clinic Health System-St. Marys campus.
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea and Hayward fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted on scene.
