Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services and Heartland Power Cooperative ask their members to wait until 8 p.m. before using any unnecessary electric power this evening. Today is a peak alert day due to high demands for electricity caused by cold temperatures and wind chill in the regional power market, according to a news release.

The cooperatives ask people to avoid the use of appliances and any unnecessary electric usage until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Waiting until that time will help keep electricity costs low for members.
