Marlene Nordahl, 1938-2019

Funeral services for Marlene F. Nordahl of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Marlene died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea. She was 80.
Marlene was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Axel and Joyce (Arneson) Petersen. She was a graduate of Albert Lea High School.
On July 6, 1957, Marlene was united in marriage to Roger A. Nordahl at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Marlene was an Albert Lea resident all of her life and an active member of First Lutheran Church.
Marlene found her calling when she started working at Fountain Centers, where she was treatment assistant and relapse coordinator. Over her two decades there she touched over 1,000 lives. She was a Girl Scouts leader, enjoyed sewing and spent winters in Florence, Arizona, for over 20 years. Marlene had a great sense of humor, enjoyed social activities and all of the family gatherings and outings.
She is survived by her children Scott and his wife, Patty Nordahl, of Hastings and Shari and her husband, Scott Pirsig, of Albert Lea; grandchildren Candace (Chris) Musick of Chicago, Travis Nordahl (Rachel Raskin) of Inver Grove Heights, Casey Pirsig of Minneapolis, Ross Pirsig of Malaga, Spain, and Callen Pirsig of Minneapolis; and sisters-in-law Audrey Clark and Darlene Winter of Albert Lea and Gloria Siewert of Lubbock, Texas.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger, in 2018; and one brother, Dale Petersen.
