HASTINGS — Gov.-elect Tim Walz will use a dairy farm as the backdrop when he names seven more state agency heads, including his commissioners of agriculture, natural resources and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
Walz on Thursday will visit the farm of Bill Sorg, whose family milks about 300 cows near Hastings.
The Democratic governor-elect also plans to announce his commissioners of health, human services, human rights and the Bureau of Mediation Services.
Walz named his first eight commissioners last month. After Thursday’s announcement he’ll still have eight spots left to fill in his cabinet. The 23 positions all require confirmation by the Senate, where Republicans have a one-seat majority.
Walz will be sworn as Minnesota’s 41st governor since statehood on Monday.
