Elizabeth Hansen, 1920-2019

Elizabeth “Liz” E. Hansen, 98, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, in Rochester. Memorial services for Elizabeth “Liz” E. Hansen of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Matt Lehman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Liz was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Moulton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Evans) Bybee. She graduated from Albert Lea High School.

On Nov. 18, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lyle J. Hansen. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years. Liz had been employed as a nurse’s aide at Naeve Hospital and a home health aide with public health in Albert Lea. She loved baking, reading and playing cards with her family and at the Senior Center.

Liz is survived by her children Rosamond “Rosie” (John) Rasmussen of Albert Lea, LaDonna “Donna” (George)Hansen Tucker of Lady Lake, Florida, Dennis “Denny” Hansen of Jacksonville, Florida, Ronald  “Ron”(Jeanne) Hansen of Albert Lea, Gerald “Jerry” Hansen of Knoxville, Tennessee, Suzanne “Suzie” (Hugh) Crawford of Albert Lea, Julie Rustan of Rochester and Jeffery “Jeff” Hansen of Fruitland Park, Florida. There are 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Chuck (Kim) Bybee of Albert Lea, Joe Bybee of Sanford, Florida, and Richard “Dick” (Martha) Bybee of Rowland Heights, California; sister, Mary Cook, of Glendora, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas “Tom” Hansen; daughter-in-law, Lucy Hansen; son-in-law, Rod Rustan; sisters Marion (Dan) McNab and Dora Mae (Jasper) Bure; brothers Veryl Bybee, Samuel “Buster” (Arlyss) Bybee and Harry “Doc” (Emmy) Bybee and two in infancy; and brother-in-law, Arthur ”Art” Cook.
