Leonard Alvin Meyer passed away Friday, March 15, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Leonard was born April 4, 1924, in Wells to Ewald and Lillian (Brandt) Meyer. He had three brothers and one sister: Herb, Norb, Marvin and Adoris.

On March 31, 1945, Leonard was united in marriage to Ardell Anderson. Together they had five boys.

Leonard owned and operated Meyer’s Locker in Oakland until he retired. He had a love for fishing and being with family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his sons Leonard S. (Barb) Meyer of Oakland and Darrell (Pam) Meyer of Albert Lea; daughters-in-law Linda Meyer of Austin and Jill Brua of California; grandchildren Vicky Meyer, Ricky Meyer, Philip Meyer, Dustin Meyer, Chad Meyer, Kristin Swanson, Adam Meyer and Bridget McCarthy; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ewald and Lillian Meyer; wife, Ardell; sons Duane, Bruce and Robert; and granddaughter, Brenda.

A memorial service for Leonard A. Meyer will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. James Groleau officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church Thursday. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
