Letter to the Editor: DAV’s service is a blessing

Published 8:00 pm Monday, March 4, 2019

In response to the article “Helping Those In Need,” I am so grateful that Larry Weigel and the DAV have this service here in Albert Lea. Our lives changed very quickly the first week of January. One day our lives were normal; the next day, everything changed. My husband was diagnosed with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. He had major surgery in Rochester, spent three weeks in a rehab place for PT and OT and then went home. We were so not prepared for any of this. Thank you to family, friends and neighbors for all of your help. And to Larry Weigel for so kindly digging the snow away from the door of the storage shed and allowing to take/use anything that we needed. A very kind man. At this point, I am not able to work because I need to be home to care for my husband. We are feeling very blessed that we did not have to purchase so many items that were needed. Thank you to the DAV and Larry Weigel.
