TOPS MN Chapter 979

TOPS MN Chapter 979 announced its January and February division winners.

January division winners were Trish Williams, division one; Aisha Heard, division three; and Betty Gavle, division four.

February division winners were Williams, division one; Heard, division two; and Barb Solberg, division four.

Weekly best losers were Judy Thorson, Shirley Schuster, Williams — who won three times, and Solberg. Thorson and Williams were four-star winners.

Weekly incentive winners were Frieda Johannsen, Lois Goodnature, Heard, Pat Sorenson, Fern Rockwell and LeAnn Jones.

Holiday contest winners were Williams and Sorenson. Others winning $1 back were Solberg, Katie Koziolek, Sandi Ouderkirk, Rose Rolands, Betty Thorson, Peggy Inderlie and Thorson. KOPS in black were Rockwell and Daniel and Louise Wirkus.

Challenge winners were Koziolek, Williams, Mary Louise Wirkus, Lorene Hohansee, Jones and Janice Shroeder.

Showers were held for 10 weeks, fruit, Sorensen; 15 weeks, vegetables, Rockwell, Darlene Kenison and Heard; and 20 weeks, paper, Daniel Wirkus.

Royalty was also announced. Minnesota State Queen is Mary Louise Wirkus and Minnesota State King is Daniel Wirkus. Minnesota Runner-up Queen alternate is Rockwell. Heard was the second-place division winner.

TOPS — take off pounds sensibly — is a nonprofit weight loss support group. There is no diet plan, but support with others on the journey to health and wellness. Tops MN Chapter 979 meets at 9 a.m. Thursdays in the Albert Lea Senior Center in Skyline Plaza to weigh in and learn about healthy lifestyles.

Duplicate Bridge

Seven teams played Duplicate Bridge on March 19 at the Senior Center in Austin.

Winners were Gail and Ray Schmidt, first place; Vandy Newman and Bud Higgins, second place; Joyce Crowe and Millie Seiver, third place; and Barb Engebretson and Orrin Roisen and Lorraine Lippert and Ron Peters, tied for fourth place.

Four tables played Duplicate Bridge on March 20 at the Senior Center in Austin.

Winners were Loren Cleland and Bud Higgins, first place; Gail and Ray Schmidt, second place; Larry Crowe and Jim Fisher, third place; and Carolyne Higgins and Rick Stroup, fourth place.
