Donald Alvin Arrett, 72, of Gordonsville, formerly of Northwood, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019, at home surrounded by his daughters and granddaughter. He died from terminal cancer.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood. Burial will take place at a later date at Stateline Cemetery in Northwood.

Donald was born June 8, 1946, in Freeborn County. He was the son of Lawrence and Evelyn (Barber) Arrett. Donald attended Northwood-Kensett School.

Donald married Francene Siebrecht in September 1965. To this union two daughters were born, Sandra and Kimberly. They later divorced. Donald married Deborah Patrick in May 1981. Deborah passed in October 2015.

Donald enjoyed his daily drives, news, listening to the radio and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Donald worked a variety of jobs in his lifetime at places including Mooney Painting, Tumbull Tire, Winnebago Industries, at a coal mine when Don and Deb lived in Texas and at Sorenson Brothers, where Donald was a heavy equipment operator for 33 years until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughters Sandy (Rex) Swalve of Garner, Iowa, and Kim Soost of Buffalo Center, Iowa; grandchildren Matthew Sandberg, Zachary Swalve and April Soost; great-grandchildren Mikayla, Jaymie and Dana Simmons; sister, Karen Hove; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah; parents Lawrence and Evalyn Arrett; brothers Robert and James Arrett; sister, Lois Patterson; brother-in-law, Charles Hove; and nephew, Todd Hove.
