Storm shifts to south, increasing chance for snow

Confidence is increasing in a narrow band of heavy, wet snow along and north of Interstate 90 on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather agency states rain will change over to snow early Saturday morning, and snow will quickly exit Saturday afternoon.

Most of the accumulation would be on grassy surfaces, but heavy snowfall rates could lead to some accumulation on roads.

The heavy snow and east winds of 25 to 35 mph could lead to power outages, and travel could be impacted with the possible accumulation.

As of Thursday afternoon, there was a 60 to 70% chance for accumulating snow in the Albert Lea area. It states 2 to 4 inches is possible.

The storm has shifted south from Interstate 94 closer to I-90.
