Lake Mills boys’ and girls’ track and field teams take part in annual Bulldog relays

The Lake Mills boys’ and girls’ track and field teams traveled to Hampton-Dumont Friday night for the annual Bulldog relays.

The boys’ team came out on top of a tough battle at the top with Clear Lake, while the girls’ team finished in the middle of the pack tied for fourth place.

The boys’ took first place in four events and second in six to come out ahead of Clear Lake by just three points.

Picking up the top finishes for Lake Mills were junior Logan Precott in the 100-meter dash (11.47), junior Carson Rygh in the 1,600-meter run (4:47.04), senior Tommy Kaktis in the 400-meter hurdles (57.75), and the 4×800-meter relay team of Kaktis, Rygh and juniors Mason Fritz and Jackson Rice (8:21.76).

It was the second-place finishes where the Bulldogs picked up the majority of their points. Prescott and Fritz each took second in the 200-meter dash and 800-meter run, respectively. Sophomore Caleb Albert took second in the 1,600-meter run, and the 4×200, 4×400 and shuttle hurdle relay teams also came in second place.

The girls’ team scored 73 team points to tie for fourth with West Hancock, but Forest City ran away with the meet with 166 points.

Sophomore Taylor Ingledue won three first-place medals, taking home the top prize in the 100-meter dash (13.27), 200-meter dash (27.89) and as a part of the 4×200-meter relay team along with freshman Brooke Bergo, junior Megan Groe and senior Lyv Arispe (1:53.18).

The same team also took second in the 4×100-meter relay team with a time of 53.81. Arispe also took second in the 100-meter dash just .01 seconds behind Ingledue.

Both teams will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura for the Top of Iowa Conference meet.
