In answer to Tom Schleck’s letter to the editor published April 17. It was headed “Freeze spending at 2017 levels.”

I would like to address his answer to Walz’s tax plan.   Tom has shown he is a far-right Republican in previous letters. It’s always got something to do with tax cuts. Now, Tom made his living on our tax dollars. He has been in the union while he worked. Who knows how many times the union went to bat for him to save his job. This is a good example of gratitude for people who have done something for them. We had far-right Republicans at the packinghouse also. We had a name for them. We called them scabs. It is common sense that Democrats support unions and unions support the Democrat Party. These scabs could go and get a minimum wage job and work their way up if they think they are so smart. They would get their raises that would be called merit raises. Yet, they enjoy the benefits of what the unions and the Democrats have done for them. Any far-right Republican in this same situation should get down on their hands and knees and thank the unions and the Democrats for what they have done for them. I know what the union did for me when I was at the packinghouse, and I am truly grateful. I can’t tell you how upsetting it is to me when I see someone making their living on my tax dollars, and they show no appreciation. I am still bragging. I didn’t vote for Trump.
