Report: The Luther Seminary grant from the Freeborn County Communities Foundation is being used toward moving students off scholarship waiting lists to get them into the classroom.

The seminary completed its first major admissions cycle since introducing the Jubilee scholarship, where all incoming M.A. and M.Div. students receive 100% tuition scholarships. The percentage of Jubilee scholarship recipients who have completely refused federal student loans has gone to 78%, compared to last year’s 45% refusal rate, according to a press release, and applications are up 54% over last year and there is a waiting list.

With the grant, Luther Seminary will be able to move prospective students off the waiting list.

The Jubilee scholarship is opening up opportunities for gifted candidates who otherwise would not have been able to consider seminary, according to the release.
