A Kensett man died Friday after he was struck by a car in Worth County.

Rick Johnson, 58, was reportedly walking eastbound on 390th Street an eighth of a mile east of Ironwood Avenue when he was struck by a 2013 Volkswagen Passat, driven by Luke Beenken, 42, of Mason City, who was also eastbound on the street.

The crash took place at 5:21 p.m.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash remains under investigation.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Mercy Air Med, Hanlontown Fire & Rescue and Forest City Ambulance Service.
