Letter: The impact of an act of kindness

I wanted to let everyone know that there are still people in this world who are willing to help others.

Let me explain, on the 14th of this month I went into the County Assessor’s Office to find out about making payments or an extension on the property tax that was due the next day. You see, I had recently had surgery on both of my knees and was just getting back to work. Being that I am a single mother only working a part-time job and having car problems on top of that, I didn’t have the money to pay this payment. Anyway, I left the office and went to work. It wasn’t 15 minutes after 5 when this beautiful woman walked into the store and asked about my surgeries and proceeded to tell me that she and her husband would like to make my payment for me. I was overwhelmed with gratitude that goes beyond words. She took my name, my address and phone number. I can’t tell you how much that just renewed my faith in the world around us that there are still people willing to help ones that are in need. I am hoping that the couple will contact me so that I can do something in return. Nevertheless, I will forever pay it forward as much as I can in any way or means that I can by helping those around me and volunteering where possible.
