Man arrested for burglary, meth
Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jacob Paul Wolter, 23, for second-degree meth possession, attempted first-degree burglary and third-degree burglary after dispatchers received a report at 3:26 a.m. Wednesday of a male in his late 20s who was trying to get in the back door of a house at 87287 320th St., Blooming Prairie.
1 injured in crash
Melissa Jo Schmidt, 38, of St. Ansgar was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea after a crash Wednesday morning near the intersection of Myers Road and U.S. Highway 65. Police cited Joseph Wayne Ware for failure to yield.
Thefts, break-ins reported
Deputies received a report of someone who reportedly took a money bag from a taxi driver at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday on Bluegrass Road.
An Albert Lea resident reported being losing several thousand dollars Wednesday afternoon after being the victim of a telephone scam by someone claiming to be part of the Social Security Administration.
A trailer was reported stolen at 9:09 p.m. Wednesday at 1312 Spartan Ave.
A pistol was reported stolen at 6:26 p.m. Thursday at 1011 Martin Road.
A cash register was reported broken into at 9:03 a.m. Thursday at 1639 W. Main St. Damage was estimated at $50. Nothing inside was missing.
A home was reported broken into at 11:44 p.m. Thursday at 601 Columbus Ave. There was a suspect in the case.
3 arrested on warrants
Adam John Haeska, 30, was arrested in Osceola, Iowa, and brought back to Freeborn County on two local warrants.
Police arrested Derek Wayner Hacker, 36, on a warrant at 4:24 p.m. Thursday at 1433 Spartan Ave.
Michael Allen Haukoos, 41, turned himself in on a local warrant at 3:34 a.m. Friday at 411 S. Broadway.
1 cited for underage drinking
Emma Kathleen Sullivan, 19, was cited for underage drinking after a traffic stop at 10:48 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of South First Avenue and Janson Street in Albert Lea.
Hit-and-run crashes reported
A hit-and-run crash was reported at 2:56 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Bridge Avenue and East Clark Street.
A hit-and-run crash was reported at 4:24 p.m. Thursday. The incident reportedly happened the day prior in the Hy-Vee parking lot. The driver came out of the store and noticed the damage to the side of the vehicle that occurred while inside shopping.
