Raising Kids in a Digital Age workshop planned in Austin
The issues facing children today are very different from even just a few years ago. The internet and technology, while useful in many ways, create challenges for parents, educators and caregivers.
Join presenter Angela Mattke, M.D., Mayo Clinic pediatrician and medical editor of Mayo Clinic Guide to Raising a Healthy Child, as she shares resources to help navigate the world of technology.
“Raising Kids in a Digital Age” will be from 6 to 7 p.m. May 30 in the community room at the Austin Public Library, 323 Fourth Ave. NE in Austin.
According to a press release, the presentation will address how much screen time is safe, how to help children manage technology and electronics, electronic etiquette and role modeling and technology addiction.
Participants will learn how to set safe limits, establish ground rules and determine appropriate use of technology for fun and learning.
Space is limited and registration is required. There is no charge to attend the event and one continuing education unit is available for $5 through Austin Public Schools. Visit mowerrefreshed.org to learn more and register or call 507-668-2300.
The workshop is sponsored by by Mayo Clinic Health System, Mower County Public Health, Mower Refreshed and Statewide Health Improvement Partnership of Mower County.
