The Food For Backpack program, which provides weekend packets of nutritious food to over 370 K-7 District 241 students, would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the churches, community groups and individuals that have given their generous support, both with funding and volunteering their time.

This program was started two years ago with 35 students at Hawthorne Elementary School supported by one church. This year, with the help of eight local congregations, Food For Backpacks has grown to serve food-insecure students in all of the elementary schools and Southwest Middle School. 

Many groups, businesses and generous individuals have donated to this cause, and we are so grateful. With that continued support, we look forward to providing this much needed program for the next school year.
