The Albert Lea boys’ tennis team headed to Mankato Wednesday afternoon to take on East in a makeup meet originally scheduled for Tuesday.

The Tigers picked up two wins in two singles slots, but came up short in the other matches, losing to the Cougars 5-2.

Senior Grant Herfindahl was overmatched by Mark Williams in the No. 1 singles spot, falling in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. Junior Sam Yoon also lost in two sets in the No. 2 singles match, 6-0, 6-1, to Enrique Cortes.

Freshman Shine Thu and eighth grader Joseph Yoon were the two Tigers to notch wins at the meet. Thu beat Matthew Wedzina 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 at No. 3 singles, and Yoon defeated Logan Talle 6-1, 6-1, in No. 4 singles.

In doubles action senior Matt Edwards and junior Cole Indrelie lost to Jack Braswell and Seth Hardesty 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles spot. Senior Tim Kruen and sophomore Caleb Hanson put up a fight in the No. 2 doubles match against Alex Hobbs and Alex Prochaska, but lost 6-1, 6-2.

Junior Connor Veldman and eighth grader Tim Chalmers had the closest match of the afternoon at No. 3 doubles. The duo lost in two sets to Tom Bibbee and Kaleb Kim, but both sets were close, 6-4, 7-5.

The Tigers will be back on the court Saturday in a makeup meet on the road against Rochester Mayo.
