Letter: Presentations about careers helpful to students

As our Albert Lea High School students progress through their education, it was great to see them getting exposure through the Albert Lea Greater Education Project to industries and trades they might not normally consider. Lindsay Kramer and I were asked to briefly introduce several classes to our career paths as owners of Provenio Consulting and It’s Worth It Massage and Wellness Studio this past year, and it was enjoyable seeing students think about careers they never would have thought about otherwise. The questions they asked and seeing them think about career options that don’t fit neatly into the normal categories shows the need for this program and the benefit the students received. For example, as a safety, environmental, and continuous improvement consultant, I was able to tell the students the impact I’m able to have on helping companies meet their environmental goals, or how part of my job is to ensure their parents have safe workplaces so they are able to go home healthy and safe at the end of every workday.
Jean Eaton and others in the Albert Lea Ed Foundation, the teachers and the others who set this up are doing a valuable service to our students and we hope to see this continue!
