Local women attend Blue Earth River Conference

“All Anew: We are the Church Together” was the theme for the Blue Earth River Conference spring event on April 6. The event was hosted by the women of Trinity Lutheran Church of Blue Earth. They were assisted by the women from East Chain Lutheran Church and United Lutheran Church of Frost. Displays in the narthex were presented by Global Health Ministries, Good Earth Village, Interfaith Caregivers and the Southeast Minnesota WELCA Synodical Board.
Registration was from 8 to 9 a.m. and was conducted by Blue Earth River Conference board members Jan Jerdee and Janet Peterson. Julie Thrond produced all publicity for the event. Muffins, fruit kabobs and coffee was served in Trinity’s gathering place.
Sixty-one attendees heard presentations from Paul Little of Good Earth Village, Tracy Muhlenbeck of the Five Sisters project, Dan Woodring of Interfaith Caregivers and Kim Dickey of Global Health Ministries. Convener Gail Ottesen presided over the business meeting. She was re-elected to serve a three-year term as convener, Peterson was elected to serve a three-year term as a member at large, Linda Olson was elected to serve a one-year term on the nomination committee, Carl Purdy was elected for a one-year term and Hazel Spiering for a two-year term.
Retiring board members Helen Steene and Candace Pierce were recognized and thanked for their service.
The 2020 Blue Earth River Conference will be hosted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle.
