My Point of View by John Forman

We need to support our 1st Congressional District Rep. Jim Hagedorn and his defense of President Trump. He is supporting a president that has turned our American economy into the envy of the world: Lowest unemployment rates in years for all segments of the workforce, women, minority groups and youth, while increasing the labor participation rate in all segments. He has made these accomplishments without causing inflation rate problems. Congressman Hagedorn is defending the president from one-sided political attacks.

Democrats seem to be rooting for foreign interests in the tariff battle. They do not want President Trump to have success in these negotiations as it would help him in the 2020 re-election campaign. The unspoken message seems to be wait until you can negotiate with a Democratic president, remember how the deal was more important than the details in the Iran nuclear deal and you could get a couple of pallets of cash thrown in. Democrats want to impeach the president for what he said he might do but see no problem with Hillary Clinton’s campaign hiring a British agent to get unverified information from Russian operatives and passing them on to Obama-era FBI agents so they could get spies into the Trump campaign. Christopher Steel has testified that he told the FBI that his report was unverified and he did not know what, if any, of it was true. They want to claim there was obstruction of justice by President Trump but seem OK with Hillary Clinton destroying her server and all other electronic devices even while some of the information was under subpoena. She was just trying to protect her cookie recipes — all 36,000 of them.

The Mueller report found no collusion with Russia and no proof of obstruction of justice. In a strange twist of our constitutional rule of innocent until proven guilty, Mueller switched to a guilty until proven innocent position in his press conference after the report was issued. Mueller told Attorney General Barr in front of several witnesses that the general feeling that you cannot charge a sitting president had nothing to do with his decision to not charge Trump with obstruction. Representative Hagedorn is supporting a president who is trying to wrestle control from the bureaucratic shadow government in Washington and give control back to the will of the people.

Education has become a hot topic after a recent article on bias by educators. It was interesting to see the comments and letters that followed the article supporting the claim of bias. My son and daughter have stories of their own about teacher bias against conservative views. It is not a coincidence that the teachers union is the largest donor to the Democratic Party in our state. The teachers union wants to keep it’s monopolist control on education and what is taught in our schools.

Several polls have shown a majority of people in the state want some sort of school choice or a voucher system so parents have control over their children’s education. Many states have voucher systems that have passed the separation of church and state rules in the Constitution.

Our country’s values and laws were based on Christian principles and documents that cannot even be taught in some of our schools today. If some judge somewhere declares actions to be legal, it becomes part of the education process. Everything that is legal is not necessarily moral. It seems funny how quickly liberals can do an about-face on legal and moral issues. Abortion is legal so it must be moral; illegal immigration is not legal but they will support it as a moral value issue. The Democratic Party will continue to fight choice in education as long as the education system is pushing liberal views, and they continue to get the teachers union money.
