Blue Earth to host Giant Days this week

The community of Blue Earth will host Giant Days on Friday and Saturday.

According to a press release, the celebration will mark the Jolly Green Giant statue’s 40th birthday and will take place in Giant Park.

At 5 p.m. Friday food vendors will open and there will be a reptile show for children from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a fun run at 6 and 7 p.m. Free cupcakes and ice cream will be served between 6 and 7 p.m., as well.

KBEW dance DJs will be playing music and giving away prizes from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

The evening will conclude with a fireworks display set off east of the high school, the release stated.

The celebration will continue Saturday. Downtown businesses will host special sales. Downtown will also host children’s activities and the Giant Parade at 5 p.m. The celebration will wrap up with a street dance at the fairgrounds. Powerhouse will perform at 8:30 p.m.
