Bomb squad investigates found item

The St. Paul bomb squad was called to check out a suspicious item found at 8:55 a.m. Friday at 803 Bridge Ave. Police stated there was what looked to be a hand grenade with shotgun shells taped to it with black electrical tape. It was found to be a hollow grenade and was removed from the house.

 

Man arrested for DWI

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Cory Michael Hanson, 25, for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 1:51 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of West Clark Street and Euclid Avenue in Albert Lea.

 

Thefts reported

A tab off of a license plate was reported stolen at 2:45 p.m. Friday off of a vehicle at 75589 250th St.  in Clarks Grove.

A push mower, portable PA system and amplifier were reported stolen at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at 409 W. Clark St.

Police arrested Darian Margaret Bohlman-Reyna, 26, for theft at 9:36 p.m. Friday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

A black and blue Trek mountain bike was reported stolen at 7:55 a.m. Friday at 510 E. Fifth St. The bike was found about a block away.

A red and white mountain bike was reported stolen at 4:05 p.m. Friday at 2407 Clayton Ave. The bike had been taken overnight.

A theft was reported at 5:27 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

Two bikes were reported stolen at 8:32 p.m. Sunday at 1022 S. Newton. One bike was a yellow Schwinn 12-speed bike and the other was a chrome and blue-colored 12-speed bike.

A golf cart picker work horse with cab on it was reported stolen at 8:52 a.m. Friday at 2200 W. Ninth St. The car was valued at $4,500.

 

Break-ins reported

A vehicle was reported rummaged through at 11:37 a.m. Friday at 1305 Garfield Ave. Nothing was taken.

A storage unit was reported broken into at 7:12 p.m. Sunday at 401 Pilot St.

Two juveniles reportedly tried to break into a vehicle at 12:11 a.m. Sunday at 1214 Sheridan St.

Police received a report at 8:35 p.m. Friday of an apartment that was broken into at 909 Janson St.

 

1 arrested on local warrant

Police arrested Kevin Earl Whelan, 65, on a local warrant at 1:59 a.m. Saturday at 134 W. William St.
