Editorial: Help 2 area cities celebrate big anniversaries

Published 8:28 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2019

It’s not every day one of our area communities celebrates 100 years — let alone 150 years. But this year, there are two cities in the Tribune’s coverage area doing just that.

Lake Mills and Wells are celebrating their sesquicentennial anniversaries.

If you have time, we encourage you to stop by these communities and support a business there or join in the festivities in Lake Mills and Wells to recognize the milestone.

The Tribune also plans to have special stories about the history of these communities in the coming months.

Lake Mills has its annual festival this weekend called July Jubilee. Events kick off Thursday and continue through Sunday.

Wells has had a few activities already this year for its sesquicentennial but will celebrate its annual Kernel Days festival Aug. 15 through Aug. 18.

Lake Mills and Wells, like any other community, have evolved over the years. If you haven’t been to one in recent years, we encourage you to check one out.

Not only will the town be happy to see visitors during these celebrations, but you might be surprised at what you’ll find there, too.
