Woman gets probation for financially exploiting vulnerable adult

An Owatonna woman was sentenced to two years of probation and stayed jail time on Friday for financially exploiting a vulnerable adult over eight months.
Dolores Tritle, 54, in April pleaded guilty to taking $7,330 from a woman who lived at a local nursing home and needed 24-hour care. Tritle was her power of attorney.
Freeborn County District Court Judge Steve Schwab sentenced Tritle to 365 days in the Freeborn County jail, but Tritle will not have to serve that time if she successfully completes her probation.
She received credit for 17 days already spent in jail and was also ordered to serve five days of Sentence to Service.
Court documents state Tritle was charged after a detective received a referral for investigation on a case involving potential financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult in June 2017.
Sixteen withdrawals from the victim’s account corresponded with deposits into Tritle’s account.
Prior to Friday’s court date, Tritle had paid back $7,012 in restitution, and was expected to pay the remaining $318 Friday.
