Habitat for Humanity-Freeborn/Mower has made the difficult decision to close its ReStore at 1415 First Ave. SW in Austin in September, according to a press release. During the five years it has operated a ReStore in Austin, the store has provided Habitat with a visible, brick and mortar presence in the community, the release stated.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization with a history and legacy of providing safe, decent, affordable housing throughout the world, according to the release.

The board and staff of the local affiliate said Freeborn and Mower counties will continue to be well-served by the organization’s focus on and fulfillment of that core mission, the release stated.

The organization remains committed to building homes, revitalizing neighborhoods and strengthening the community, it continued, and by closing the ReStore, Habitat for Humanity-Freeborn/Mower will be able to focus its efforts and resources on that primary mission.

The store will begin to mark down its inventory, with the intention of closing sometime in September.
