Letter: How can we forget where we all came from?

The current administration’s racist and hate-filled rhetoric encourages and supports the actions of people such as the murderer in El Paso that recently killed 20 people and wounded 27 in the Walmart store over the past weekend. Note the following quotes from the current leader regarding a solution to the “invasion” of immigrants coming across the border:
“ … (leader of USA) called immigration along the southern border an “invasion” six times in seven months: once in November and December each, and twice in January and again in June, all before telling four congresswomen of color to go back to where they came from. At a rally in May, (leader of USA) asked, “How do you stop these people?” A follower in the crowd responded, “shoot them.” (Leader of USA) laughed and pointed. (from the New Republic. Aug 5) and the following:
“How do you stop these people? You can’t,” Trump lamented at a May rally in Panama City Beach, Florida. Someone in the crowd yelled back one idea: “Shoot them.” The audience of thousands cheered and Trump smiled. Shrugging off the suggestion, he quipped, “Only in the Panhandle can you get away with that statement.” (from the Washington Post, Aug. 4)
How can we forget? My grandparents came from Sweden. We are all immigrants. We all lay dying and dead in the Walmart aisle.
