Verna Sanderson, 1938-2019

Funeral services for Verna M. Sanderson, 80, of Lake Mills will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Emmons Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Schafer will officiate. Burial will be at Lime Creek Cemetery in Emmons. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church. Verna died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at Muse-Norris Hospice in Mason City.
Verna Mae Sanderson was born Sept. 2, 1938, in Albert Lea Township, the daughter of Jonas and Augusta (Herman) Luecht. She attended and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Verna was married to Duane Mostrom and later Burnell “Bud” Sanderson.
She worked for Fleetguard in Lake Mills from 1977 until her retirement in 2008. After her retirement, Verna was a member and volunteer at the Eagles Club and Freeborn County Historical Society. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her monthly coffee breaks with three loyal friends from Fleetguard along with gardening and baking cookies. She loved crafts and collecting dolls and Disney toys. Verna enjoyed all the pets she had over the years.
Verna is survived by her children Sheryl Hagar, Mark (Kathy) Mostrom, Brenda (Bruce) Bartness, Patty Jo Sanderson (Jeff Willert), Valerie Sanderson (Jim Barrett) and Butch Sanderson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters Leets Amundson and Ethel Lee Moen; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by siblings Katherine, LeRoy, Genada, Wilford, Frances and Wilma.
The family would like to thank Muse-Norris Hospice for the loving care given to Verna, along with special caregivers Michelle Kingland, Bev Chodur, Bon Kozisek, Talia Schmidt, Jessica Severin and Art Zewart.
