A 51-year-old woman was injured Thursday during heavy rains on Interstate 35 in southern Freeborn County as she attempted to pull over her car in the rain.

Kathryn Louise Smith of Britt, Iowa, was taken by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The report stated Smith was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe northbound on I-35 four miles north of the Iowa border when she tried to pull over during heavy rain, but pulled too far into the ditch, causing the car to roll.

Alcohol was not a factor, and Smith was listed as wearing her seat belt.

Glenville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
