2 arrested after leading police on chase into Iowa

Two Albert Lea residents were arrested early Saturday morning in Worth County after leading authorities on a chase that started in Freeborn County.
The pursuit continued into Iowa on Interstate 35, where it was terminated near the 214 mile marker at the Northwood exit, according to a Worth County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Shortly after, the fleeing vehicle was found unoccupied in the ditch of the northbound lanes three miles north at the 217 mile marker.
A drone was used to find two people hiding in a bean field near the intersection of Marks Hill Road and Hickory Avenue.
Nena Hardy, 22, was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, and Rodolfo Valdez, 22, was arrested on an out of state warrant. Hardy was held in the Worth County jail on a $1,000 bond, and Valdez was being held with no bond.
