Beverly N. Thrond, 86, formerly of Walters and Kiester, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Community-The Woodlands in Albert Lea.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills. There will also be visitation Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 605 W. State St. in Kiester, one hour prior to her funeral. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Burial will take place in Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural Northwood.

Beverly Nylene (Peterson) Thrond was born Aug. 15, 1933, in Nunda Township, Freeborn County, to Daniel and Luella (Larson) Peterson. She was baptized Sept. 24, 1933, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church in rural Northwood by the Rev. C.T. Fjelstad. Beverly was confirmed June 6, 1948, at Sion Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills by the Rev. Christian Notsund. She attended and graduated from Emmons High School.

On March 23, 1952, she was united in marriage with Arnold Thrond at Sion Lutheran Church. The couple had five sons. During their married years, Beverly and Arnold made their home in a few rural areas in Worth County, as well as Faribault County. Beverly had also worked with tax preparation, at Green Giant canning factory and Fleetguard Industries.

Beverly was primarily a homemaker and took that role very seriously. She loved her children, she spent time gardening — both flowers and vegetables, canning her produce, quilting, making lefse, playing cards and creating Hardanger embroidered pieces. However, Beverly might be best known for the glorious cakes she baked and decorated. She made cakes for countless weddings, birthdays, confirmations, etc.

Bev enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and family, and was especially proud of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons Bruce (Paty) Thrond of Emmons, Paul (Jessica) Thrond of Licking, Missouri, David (Rodica) Thrond of Blue Earth, Steven (Mary) Thrond of Walters and Randy (Tina) Thrond of Kiester; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jon) Cisar, Erin (Matt) Sweet, Ashley (Mark) Sinniah, Casey Thrond and Lauren (Cody) Nelson; siblings Kitty Sandsmark of Albert Lea, Duane (Betty) Peterson of Albert Lea and Gene (Joann) Peterson of Northwood; an amazing friend, Bonnie Underbakke, of Albert Lea; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Marlin Sandsmark.
