Bulldogs roll over the Eagles
The Lake Mills volleyball team made quick work of Eagle Grove Thursday night to grab its eighth victory of the season.
The Bulldogs dominated their way to a straight set victory over the Eagles 25-7, 25-7, 25-9.
Many players had a high number of kills in the match, including junior Kylie Greenfield, who led the way with 10, senior Megan Grow with six and senior Olivia Moen with four. Senior Jessa Gasteiger set them up with her 25 assists, while also picking up three kills herself. The Bulldogs had 32 kills as a team.
Lake Mills’ best aspect of the game came in the serving department. The Bulldogs finished the match hitting 91% from the service line and had an astounding 25 aces.
“I was pleased with our focus tonight,” said head coach Jim Boehmer. “Our goal was to take advantage of every ball we had a chance to play. I think the girls did that very well. We didn’t give up cheap points and that was critical.
“I think all of our front-row and back-court play was solid. We have been working to swing with more aggressiveness in practice and that was more evident tonight. We are also serving much better and reaching more of our statistical goals.”
The Bulldogs move to 8-2 on the season and 4-0 in the Top of Iowa Conference. They will be back on the court Saturday when they travel to Manly, Iowa, for a Central Springs tournament.
