Gloria Reiland was born May 4, 1937, in Lake Mills. She was the daughter of Gylven and Marguerite (Iverson) Tveit. Marlene grew up in Emmons and attended and graduated from Emmons High School in 1955. Marlene then went on to business school in Minneapolis. After graduation Marlene was employed as an insurance clerk for Federated Insurance in Owatonna for a few years and then they relocated to Albert Lea in the early ’60s, when she then was a stay-at-home mom to raise their three children. Marlene later went on to receive her certification to become a home health care aid and worked for the county and a local care home just down the street from where she lived.
On Oct. 17, 1959, Marlene married Thomas Reiland and together they had three children. Thomas passed away shortly before Marlene.
Marlene was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church where she was also a member of the women’s circle. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
