The Albert Lea Tigers traveled to Lakeville to take on Hastings Wednesday afternoon for the first round of the Section 1AA tournament.

The matchup, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed due to poor weather conditions. Despite the extra day of preparation, the Tigers were unable to match the Radiers’ power, falling 7-0.

The closest Albert Lea came to a win was junior Ali Dulitz, who went into a third-set tiebreaker in her No. 4 singles match. Dulitz  won the first set handily 6-0, however, lost the second set 6-3 and the eventual tiebreaker 10-3.

In other singles action, senior Sam Skarstad lost 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. Junior Shelby Hanson and senior Maggie Moller   struggled at the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Both fell with scores  of 6-0, 6-1.

As a team, the Tigers are done for the season. However, they will still compete in the individual section tournament starting Thursday.
