The Albert Lea football team hit the road Friday night heading to New Prague looking for its second win of the season.

Despite being tied 6-6 midway through the second quarter, the Tigers offense sputtered and failed to find the endzone again, while the Trojans piled on the points, winning 32-6.

The Tigers defense held strong through much of the first half, only allowing six points through the first quarter and two more late in the second quarter.

Albert Lea’s lone score of the game came three minutes into the second quarter on a six-yard rush by senior J.J. Mucha-Owens.

The game went to halftime with the Trojans on top 20-6.

New Prague got into the endzone twice more before the end of the game, but it was nothing doing for the Tigers as they struggled to move the ball.

“We played well in the first half considering we were playing in the elements,” head coach Corey Black said. “We gave them a couple of short-field possessions, which allowed them to score twice in the third quarter. Along with the score we gave up in the final minute of the first half, we were just unable to swing any of the momentum our way.”

The Tigers fall to 1-6 on the season and will travel to Austin Wednesday, where they will take on the 2-4 Packers.
