Frank Villarreal, 1936-2019

Memorial services for Frank A. “Poncho” Villarreal will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Mitchem will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Frank died at his home Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.

He was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Lockhart, Texas, the son of Morris and Elvira (Alfredo) Villarreal.

Frank worked at Continental Foundry and also in Wells.

He married Elizabeth Ann Abrego, and to this union Elvira, Frank, Rose, Fidel, Michael and Peter were born. They were later divorced.

He spent more than 30 years with his life companion, Maria Rosa Mendez.

He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going to casinos. Family time and time spent with grandchildren were special times for Frank.

Frank is survived by Maria; children Elvira Lopez (Joseph Lopez) of St. Paul, Frank Villarreal of Albert Lea, Rose Villarreal (Steve Brenke) of Walters, Fidel Villarreal (Patty Thomas) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Michael Villarreal of Albert Lea and Peter Villarreal of Albert Lea; stepchildren Francis Guerrero of Albert Lea, Roy (Patty) Abrego of Eagan and Daniel Robles of St. Cloud; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as step-grandchildren and their families and extended family; and Melissa Quiroz and family.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
