The concrete overlay project on westbound Interstate 90 from Freeborn County Road 46 to Minnesota Highway 13 is complete, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Ulland Brothers Inc., a MnDOT contractor, paved a 12-mile stretch of the westbound lanes with concrete in a process called an unbonded concrete overlay.
According to a press release, the project will provide a smoother ride for motorists and extend the lifespan of the road. The $17.2 million concrete paving project included the replacement of the westbound bridge deck over County Road 46.
Motorists who travel this stretch of I-90 may want to attend a public open house Tuesday in Austin to learn about a project for 2020, involving an unbonded concrete overlay on eastbound I-90 from Freeborn County Road 46 to Minnesota Highway 105 in Austin. The project includes several ramp detours.
The open house is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the large meeting room of Austin Public Library, 323 Fourth Ave. NE in Austin.
