Oct. 25, 1979: Country Western singer Johnny Cash spent the night at Kahler Motel in Albert Lea following a concert at Riverside Arena in Austin.
Oct. 22, 1979: Rochester received a record 5.4 inches of snowfall; the Weather Bureau reported that Albert Lea received a total of 1.36 inches of snow.
Oct. 27, 1959: Rank and file members of the United Packinghouse Workers of America Local Six voted to return to work at Wilson & Co. following a dispute over working hours.
