Area native completes training

Michael Venem, an Albert Lea High School graduate, completed Leadership Nebraska training.

A commencement ceremony took place in February and honored the 29 individuals who successfully finished the program’s coursework.

The focus of the program is to enhance leadership skills while expanding knowledge of challenges and opportunities facing the state of Nebraska. According to a press release, the training included six two-day sessions spanning several months in different communities throughout the state.

Different subjects covered in the training included health care, agriculture, education, economic development and government and policy.

U of M in Twin Cities announces dean’s list

The following students have been named to the 2019 spring semester dean’s list at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities: Beau S. Johnsrud, Emery D Morua, Kathryn M. Rasmussen and Jonah Walker of Albert Lea; Elynn Johnson and Elena Schewe of Alden; Ahnik Jensen of Clarks Grove; Jacob Nelson of Ellendale; Katherine Schlitz of Glenville; Alison Pryor of Hollandale; and Erik Olson of New Richland.

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.
