Julie was united in marriage to Kent Jasperson on Sept. 14, 1968, at Grace Lutheran Church and they built their home and raised their family in Albert Lea. Julie had a great love for kids and a true passion for education. She was a paraeducator for District No. 241 for more than 30 years, and also was a volunteer educator for Discover History Days at the Freeborn County Historical Society for many years.

Julie was always up for an adventure, willing to try anything and go anywhere. Yearly trips to Gull Lake — her happy place, wintering in Corpus Christi over the years and the many travels — especially after she and Kent retired, leave many special memories.

She had so many favorite activities, including her card club, flowers, bird watching, entertaining, cooking and almost daily visits to the state park. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Julie will be greatly missed by her husband of 51 years, Kent; her children Traci Jasperson (Travis Brouillard) of Minneapolis and Mark Jasperson of Hastings, Nebraska; sister, Mary Muelhaupt, of Lawrence, Kansas; niece, Heather (Mike) McKinney, and family of Lawrence; and nephew, Jonathan Tyler, and family, also of Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Arline Johnson and her siblings Carol Shepherd and John Johnson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the outstanding staff at Thorne Crest for their dedicated, compassionate care given to both Julie and her family.
