Letter: It takes a village to raise a child

Our family would like to thank you, the community of Albert Lea, for supporting our children in their extracurricular activities. I say community because many people and organizations helped in our children gaining the skills and attitude needed as they continue on their journey. A few organizations we want to specifically acknowledge are the YMCA, Parks and Recreation, ALYSA (Albert Lea Youth Soccer Association), Albert Lea School District 241 and Mayo Clinic Health System. You all have made a positive impact on our children and our family. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to work with you. Specifically, we would like to thank those individuals who directly impacted our children through coaching and training. A special thank you to the athletic trainers from Mayo Clinic Health System, Emily and Lynn. I don’t believe the public understands the commitment and dedication that these two individuals, along with their employer, Mayo Clinic Health System, have provided for our community and the student athletes they serve. This is a service provided to our school district at no charge from our community partner, Mayo Clinic Health System. This service is really not the norm in other communities, and other communities have expressed how they wish they could have this partnership in their community.
As our family makes the transitions from high school to college, we will not forget how this community of supporters helped along the way.
