Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
Lois died the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Community.
Lois Marilyn was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Albert Lea to Arthur and Grace (Clemmetson) Godtland — making her the 10th of their 12 children. Lois graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1953. In 1956, she was entered into the Miss Albert Lea Pageant, where she placed third.
She was united in marriage to DeVerne Roger Undahl of Emmons on Aug. 19, 1961, at Grace Lutheran Church. They spent 39 happy years together. Sadly, DeVerne passed away shortly before their 40th anniversary. Together they had three children — sons Todd and Greg and daughter, Amy.
Lois worked at Dahl’s Grocery, Medical & Surgical Center, Benson Optical, Albert Lea Optometric Clinic, St. John’s Lutheran Community, Herberger’s and Complete Automotive Services, where she worked with her son.
Lois enjoyed singing anywhere and everywhere — school chorus, church choir, at weddings, funerals, in the car — everywhere! You name it, and she belted out a tune! She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.
She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, singing in the choir for many years, was on the altar guild and counted money every Monday morning. She was a member of the very exclusive “Lois Club.” She loved to bake — baking cookies, banana bread and lefse were just a few of her all-time favorites. Most importantly, Lois loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. There wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t say “Uffdah.”
Lois is survived by her sons Todd (special friend, Noemi) Undahl and Greg (Sarah) Undahl; daughter, Amy (Brian) White; grandchildren Nicole Koester, Jacob (Cambria) White, Caleb White, Connor White, Gage Undahl, Kinley Undahl and Johnathan Fleek; and great-grandson, Anthem White. She is also survived by brothers LuVerne Godtland and Ronald (Karen) Godtland; sister-in-law, Sandy Godtland; goddaughters Karen Crawford, Deb Godtland-Bernin, Gretchen Anderson, Diane Boelke and Shari Jenson; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DeVerne, in 2001; grandson, Jordan Koester; grandbaby White; great-granddaughter, Echo White; her parents Arthur Sr. and Grace Godtland; father and mother-in-law Gilmer and Pearl (Loberg) Undahl; brothers Glenn (Eleanor) Godtland, Arvin “Donald” (Dorothy) Godtland, Ellsworth (Jeanette) Godtland, Arthur Jr. (Ollie) Godtland, Raymond “Buddy” Godtland and Richard Godtland; sisters Georgia (Arnold) Johnson, Arlene Godtland (in infancy in 1920), and Ruth (Dale) Whiteis; sister-in-law, Jeannie Godtland; sister and brother-in-law Phyllis (Gene) Monson; goddaughters Marcie Godtland and Michele Lester; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family takes comfort knowing she is safe in the arms of Jesus and singing in the heavenly choir.
Blessed be her memory.
