The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is alerting consumers of an undeclared allergen in Gunflint Trail Jams by Jan brand-flavored syrups, according to a press release. The syrups may contain sulfites, an ingredient not declared on the label. Four flavors of syrup are affected: Blueberry, Raspberry, Chokecherry and Fruit of the Loon Triple Berry. The flavored syrups were distributed by Market Distributing of Burnsville. Consumers should be advised that products were distributed to retail locations in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
State officials have received one report of illness potentially associated with the product. People who have sensitivity to sulfites should be aware these syrups may contain sulfites. The firm is working to relabel the products in retail facilities with a “contains sulfites” statement. Products with expiration dates of Dec. 2, 2021, and beyond will not contain sulfites.
Consumers with allergen concerns who purchased Gunflint Trail Jams by Jan brand-flavored syrups are advised to contact Gunflint Trails Jams by Jan for refund information.
