My Point of View: Tired of watching the one-sided tactics?

My Point of View by John Forman
Some good things have come from the one-sided left-wing hearings into the possibility of the impeachment of President Trump. I have attended monthly county Republican BPU meetings over the past several years, and sometimes we were lucky to have six people show up. Thanks largely to unfair attacks from the left on President Trump and our 1st District Congressman Jim Hagedorn, we now attract around 20 people or more at these meetings. The average age of people at these meetings was above 60; now we have people in their 30s, 40s and 50s as regular attendees, and best of all we are seeing more people in the late teens and early 20s. A couple of younger people have put themselves on record as supporting Congressman Hagedorn against left-wing attacks that were half truths and possibly lies. Hagedorn was attacked for not supporting drug price reform by the left.
A quote from the congressman’s response does a good job of explaining what happened. “I have co-sponsored and fully support three House bills to increase competition, reform generic prescription drug system and drive down consumer costs. These bills were passed out of the House Energy and Consumer Commerce Committee unanimously. Speaker Pelosi added a poison pill, an Obamacare bailout, and the measures lost Republican support.”
Congressman Hagedorn has also supported President Trump on the trade pact with Canada and Mexico, which will help farmers in our area to market their crops. Speaker Pelosi has blocked his and other Republican attempts to get it through the house for fear that if it passed, they would lose their ability to attack the president on trade policies that hurt area farmers.
As a handpicked Nancy Pelosi candidate for our congressional district, I would assume Mr. Feehan would support the speaker on all these issues including blocking the Canada-Mexico trade pact, and would defend the one-sided hearing on impeachment.
I have noticed that even some of the media outlets have started to recognize the problems with some of the left-wing questionable tactics. Our local TV station printed a retraction of claims made against Congressmen Hagedorn’s record on drug costs and said they were given misleading information on his record and failed to verify it before reporting on it. I wonder where they got this poor information?
The Austin paper did an editorial on the tactics used by left-wing activists at the town hall meeting held by Congressman Hagedorn. As Congresman Schiff would say, here is my interpretation of the editorial.
We know they were not interested in hearing anything he had to say and at times yelled down the speaker. The left asks for town hall meetings not to get information but to be disruptive. They say they are for free speech, but they want to control who speaks and what they say. They have used these tactics over and over again. They probably really like Congressman Shiff and his committee meetings with control of who can speak and what they can be asked in his hearings.
If you are tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching left-wing, one-sided tactics and wonder what you can do, I have a few suggestions. Attend a Republican BPU monthly meeting and express your views. Contribute to the candidate re-election fund. Read candidates position papers on the issue and don’t just rely on media or coffee groups for your information. Check out the Freeborn County Republican Facebook page for more information.
