Sheriff’s Office investigating fire in Emmons

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fire Saturday on an abandoned property at 70355 120th St. in Emmons. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the property had been abandoned for 15 or 20 years and had no power to it. The incident is being investigated for arson after a few other fires at abandoned properties were reported last year. 

 

4 arrested for drunken driving

Deputies arrested Jason Andrew Jacobsen, 48, for third-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 11:12 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of 860th Avenue and 130th Street in Glenville.

Police cited Alex Jon Scott, 39, for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated after a reported traffic stop involving a mini-bike at 7:16 p.m. Friday at 701 Garfield Ave.

Police arrested Zachary Gerald Betland, 29, for third-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of South Washington Avenue and West William Street.

Police arrested Anthony Bernard Hernandez, 42, for fleeing police on foot and Sara Lyn Luna, 43, for driving while intoxicated at 12:40 p.m. Sunday at 437 Bridge Ave.

 

Thefts, break-ins reported

A donation container was reported stolen at 9 p.m. Saturday at 116 Bridge Ave.

The back window of a truck was reported broken out at 7:46 a.m. Friday at 1106 W. Richway Drive. Damage was estimated at between $200 and $300.

The front and back tabs were reported stolen off of a vehicle at 3:02 p.m. Friday at 1426 Academy Ave.

Police cited Sylvia Lujan Garcia, 56, and Brilayne Johnelle Garcia, 20, for theft at 3:05 p.m. Friday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

A vehicle was reported broken into at 10:26 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of South St. Mary Avenue and West William Street. Multiple items were reported missing.

A burglary was reported at 6:32 p.m. Saturday at 2403 Ethel Ave. Multiple items were taken.

A laptop and cell phone were reported stolen at 7:50 a.m. Sunday at 323 E. William St.

Police arrested Logan Anthony Gordon, 31, for misdemeanor theft at 3:48 p.m. Sunday at 1550 Blake Ave.

 

Juvenile cited after reported fight at school

A juvenile was cited for assault and disorderly conduct after a reported fight at 8:14 a.m. Friday at Albert Lea High School, 2000 Tiger Lane.

 

3 arrested on violations

Deputies arrested Jessica Rose Hill, 43, on a probation violation at 8:49 a.m. Friday at 411 S. Broadway.

Deputies arrested Luke David Buchanan, 39, on an order for protection violation at 11:04 a.m. Saturday at 10825 813th Ave., Glenville.

Police arrested Kenneth Deyemi Dean Jr. 35, on a probation violation at 11:38 p.m. Saturday.

 

3 arrested on warrants

Police arrested Christopher Michael Baugh, 19, on an Illinois FBI warrant at 12:31 p.m. Friday at 204 E. Fourth St.

Police arrested Xander Jerome Adams, 26, on a McLeod County warrant after a traffic stop at 6:04 p.m. Friday at the intersection of East Third Street and South Broadway.

Police arrested Brian Robert Manuel, 46, on a warrant at 1:25 a.m. Sunday at 1550 Blake Ave.
