A veterans Christmas party will happen Saturday at the American Legion in St. Ansgar. The free event is a social get-together for veterans, spouses and military history enthusiasts from southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, according to a press release. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for coffee, rolls and Christmas treats.

Master of ceremonies and Iraq veteran Ken Borchadt will begin introductions at 10 a.m., followed by an opportunity for veterans and spouses to share stories or Christmas memories with the group. Lunch will be served by Paradise Pizza.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Char’s Polka Band, playing Christmas favorites, patriotic tunes, polkas, waltzes and audience requests. The alcohol- and smoke-free event is sponsored by Vietnam veteran Phil Fleischer of St. Ansgar, according to the release.
